At the workshop, there are a lot of speeches to assess the potentiality and realities of developing the tourism of traditional handicraft villages in Hung Yen and offer solutions to exploit tourism products to serve tourists. According to the Hung Yen Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Hung Yen currently has 49 handicraft villages including 8 traditional handicraft villages. Some traditional craft villages have been developing strongly and supplying products for the social life, for example, Cao musk incense village, Long Thuong bronze casting village, etc.
However, the potential exploitation of tourism in handicraft villages is still difficult. Most of the establishments are small, scattered and technologically outdated. Besides, the tourism products are monotonous, lack of attractiveness; the relationship between the trade village and travel companies is not well promoted. Also, the awareness and the way of doing tourism of local people in handicraft villages is still limited.
Within the framework of the workshop, on September 14th, 2017, Hung Yen Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a survey program with the participation of Tourism Department, Market Department, Institute of Culture, Sports and Tourism, representatives of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, The Department of Tourism, the Tourism Promotion and Information Centers and a number of typical travel businesses, the central and local press agencies. The delegation went to survey some trade villages and typical relics in Hung Yen province such as Cao musk incense village, Thu Sy bamboo weaving village, Dau An temple and Khoai Chau longan garden.
The survey program and the workshop "Hung Yen Handicraft Village Tourism Development in 2017" is an opportunity for representatives, specialists, tour operators to assess and offer proper solutions. Therefore, in order to develop the handicraft village, many presentations at the workshop suggested that there should be a quick solution for the craft village tourism such as: basic direction to develop Hung Yen trade village and Red River Delta provinces serve tourists, experience in exploiting traditional craft villages, the issue of linking craft village with travel companies in tour construction as well as activities related to the development of craft village tourism such as products and services in craft villages, building human resources in craft villages of high quality, having culture, skills and propaganda to implement environmental protection awareness of craft villages.
