Chu Dong Tu – Tien Dung Festival
Da Hoa temple locates in Binh Minh commune, Khoai Chau district, Hung Yen province. The temple worships Chu Dong Tu, one of 4 Vietnam’s immortals, together with his two wives like Tien Dung princess and Tay Sa princess.
Chu Dong Tu – Tien Dung festival is annually held from the 10th to the 12th of February (Lunar Calendar). The opening ceremony of the festival is organized on 10th February. In the afternoon, people hold traditional rituals, Ca Tru singing and Trong Quan singing. Also, many folk games are held in this afternoon, for example, chess, cock fighting, blind man’s buff, etc. Additionally, art programs are taken place in the evening.
On 11th February, people hold water-procession on the Red River (including 9 villages). Moreover, many folk games, traditional rituals and art programs are continually taken place on this day. On 12th February, people organize folk games, dragon dances in the morning and closing ceremony in the afternoon.
It can be said that Chu Dong Tu – Tien Dung is one of 16 largest festivals in Vietnam. Coming to the festivals, visitors will surely enjoy beautiful scenes, play exciting folk games as well as find out love legend of Chu Dong Tu and Tien Dung princess.
