  • Le Dinh Kien – The Man Who Had Merits to Build Pho Hien
  •     Le Dinh Kien (1621-1704) was born in Thiet Danh village, Dinh Tuong commune, Yen Dinh district, Thanh Hoa province in a poor peasant family. His father died at a very young age, and his mother had to work hard to bring him up. Thanks to his intelligence, he became a mandarin under the reign of Le Trinh dynasty. He was a talent and generous mandarin. Although he was not born in Hung Yen, he died in Hung Yen; especially, he had great merits in terms of widening and building Pho Hien.

  •     Pham Ngu Lao (1255 – 1320) was born in Phu Ung commune, An Thi district, Hung Yen province. He was famous for his strength and excellent in martial arts since he was a small. Aslo, he was an excellent general, who was trusted by Tran Quoc Tuan (Tran Hung Dao). He had great merits in both resistance wars against Mongol invaders of our nation and protection of Southwest border of the country (in 1285 and 1288).

  •     Pham Bach Ho was an influential person in Dang Chau area, a talented general of Ngo Quyen and made many contributions right from the beginning of the Ngo Quyen reign. In 937, he led a thousand troops to unify with Ngo Quyen’s army in Gia Vien citadel and won Ngo Quyen’s trust and was in charge of military power. He was also known as General Pham Phong At.

Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac (1720-1791), who had birth name called Le Huu Huan, was born in Lieu Xa village, Duong Hao district, Thuong Hong, Hai Duong Province (now is Lieu Xa hamlet, Lieu Xa commune, Yen My district, Hung Yen province). His father is Le Huu Muu, his mother is Bui Thi Thuong, and his cousins were excellent people who were important mandarins under the reign of Le – Trinh dynasty.
